Manage to rush back in time yesterday after my paper to catch the Chernobyl disaster program on Discovery. I've managed to catch the Zero Hour on the Chernobyl the day before. It was actually pretty disturbing to see the programs as you see how the disaster happened and all you could do was to watch and do nothing.

After the Zero Hour, I began to wonder whether Science is a blessing or a curse. People always think that they can have the absolute control of everything, including the neuclear power. But are we really that good? Or are we just too overconfident about ourselves? Just because of human's ego and the thinking of everything is under our control, the most devasting disaster occured.

When I watched the program on Chernobyl diaster, it was disturbing to see how human lives, like what Gar said, were wasted. I watched in utter disgust when they actually named the helpers for cleaning up Chernobyl "Liquidators" and "Bio-Robots". They have to work in areas that were contaminated without proper protective gears. Every single area was covered with radioactive dust from the explosion. They have to wash away the radioactive dust, trying to prevent contamination to the environment and the whole world. They have to work in areas that have radioactivity that were 300 times (at least) a human body can handle. When they decided to cover up the large hole of the reactor 4 to prevent more radioactive dust from being emitted, "Bio-robots" have to work in areas that had radioactivity that were 3000times more than what a huam body can handle.

It was only 20 years from the disaster. Those liquators and bio-robots (who managed to survive) are now suffering from the radioactive effects. They are only 30 to 40 years old but they're wasting away.... There were hundreds thousands of them... Now all they can do is to wait for the so-called "invisible enemy" burn them from the inside...

Still building nuclear power plant? Still building nuclear weapons? Still think humans are able to control everything? Humans... never learn from the past mistakes because they always think that they are better than the others. How many more Chrnobyl will there be? Even now... the Chernobyl disaster is still around us.. The radioactivity... you think they're gone? No... they're in the air you breathe and the water and food you're taking into your body everyday...
